The Charyl Stockwell Academy's Howell, Michigan location (9758 E. Highland Road) is exempt from property taxes at its Livingston County site, and pays nothing on a 51 acre Taylor Road parcel it purchased in Brighton Township for $600,000 in 2008.
But that hasn't stopped founder Chuck Stockwell from excoriating traditional public schools in a recent letter to parents whose children attend the Howell charter school.
