Yesterday I received a copy of an unsigned letter sent on March 26, 2021 to Dr. Casandra Ulbrich, a member of the Michigan Board of Education and the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
The letter's author asserts to be a "longtime member of MAPSA" (Michigan Association of Public School Academies) who works "for charter schools" and chose anonymity over disclosure due to fear of potential retaliation. The author reveals being especially alarmed by one ten semi-finalists named by MAPSA for the "2021 MI Charter Administrator of the Year"--the School Superintendent of Southfield's Crescent Academy.
The Crescent Academy is managed by CS Partners, a charter school Educational Service Provider formed by Chuck Stockwell, a former business partner of convicted felon (and charter cheater) Steven J. Ingersoll.
And while the Crescent Academy candidate didn't make the cut when the five finalists were announced yesterday, the allegations made in the letter deserve to be read, investigated and addressed.
