It reads like a story from The Onion: “Business That Supposedly Considers Itself One Big Family Doesn’t Want Employees Bathing Together”.
Someone, and we don't know who, is trying to make a buck off the whipped-up whirlwind of wrangling currently swirling through the well-appointed homes of Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) parents.
Defying logic, several vocal opponents (and proponents) of the TCAPS board (I won't mention names, because you all know who you are) have managed to create a newsworthy crisis about the potential dehiring of the school system's newly-hired Superintendent.
Call it rationalizing the workforce, or making a skill-mix adjustment, there's something going.
In the past, I covered the election process, and revealed some uncomfortable truths about one member of the parent phalanx (whose name was not used) calling itself Team5 TCAPS.
Illogically, I've been accused by one anonymous weasel of “carrying the water” for former Superintendent Paul Soma.
I've never met the man, but in published photographs, he looks well-hydrated.
If only the good burghers of Traverse City had been as riled up by Steven Ingersoll's admitted misappropriation of $5.0 million from the Grand Traverse Academy, and Mark Noss's history of secret payments to Ingersoll as they appear to be by a bad hire.
Now those are real controversies.
